Kids’ privacy

Bubby is for parents. Children under 13 do not get their own accounts. We only keep a child’s information after a parent who is 18+ says they are the parent or guardian and agrees.

What we collect about a child

First name, age (or a grown-up’s age band), optional grade and reading level, photos the parent uploads, optional notes about how they look, optional details the parent adds (what they love, favorites, a best friend’s first name), stories we write for them, pictures we paint, read-aloud audio if the parent turns that on, and — if the parent leaves Words to grow on — words the child taps. We do not collect a child’s email, phone, location, contacts, or school records.

Why

So the book can star that child and fit their age. We do not need more than is reasonably necessary for that. One photo and a first name are enough.

We do not train on their photos

We do not use children’s photos, names, voices, or stories to train AI. We do not sell this information. We do not use it for ads. The picture model sees a photo only to paint pages for your household. xAI does not train on API data unless a customer turns that on — we do not. When Zero Data Retention is on for our xAI team, they do not keep the prompt or photo after the page is painted.

Who else sees it

Service providers who run hosting, parent billing (Stripe and Apple), story writing (Anthropic, which gets the child’s first name, age, and story wish, never photos), pictures (xAI), and read-aloud voices (Inworld, which gets the story’s words and any grown-up voice a parent records). Not advertisers. If you tap Share, the people you send the link to can see that story.

Your rights

• Review what we have — Grown-ups → Family & pets, Books, and Account → Export.
• Refuse further collection — stop uploading, or delete the child.
• Delete — Grown-ups → Account, type DELETE, or email support@bubby.ai, or use this form if you cannot log in. We honor that within 30 days.

We will not condition the service on collecting more child data than we need to make the book.
