Juniper’s Snow Letter

Juniper’s letter was for Winter, care of the blue mailbox on the corner. She had written: Thank you for the quiet. Please do not freeze the birdbath too hard. The snow came up to the middle of her boots and made a sound like sugar. The mailbox mouth was cold and polite. The letter went in. Juniper waited one extra second, in case Winter wanted to reply immediately. Winter, being busy, sent more snow instead.
